Empowering Marginalized Elders - EME

The elders are a growing segment of the society in European countries due to aging of the societies. This category of people is one of the vulnerable groups that have been deeply affected by the economic crises in Europe.

Within European societies there are several subcategories of socially excluded elders such as immigrants, living in rural areas and poor elders that lack basic support facilities.

The Grundtvig-project aims to exchange and improve practices across European countries in order to improve the eldercare conditions for marginalized seniors. The partnership aims to improve learning on the conditions of marginalized elders in the countries involved.

To achieve the goals of the partnership four basic steps will be taken.

  • At the 1st stage, there will be an evaluation of the situation of marginalized elders, the major obstacles that they face and the opportunities available for them.
  • At the 2nd stage, there will be a tailored course of action by each partner on a specific category of marginalized elders.
  • At the 3rd stage there will be an exchange of experiences regarding the applied actions and exchange of best practices regarding marginalized elders.
  • At the 4th stage, a best practice guide called ”Empowering Marginalized Elders” will be drafted and disseminated.

The EME-project is a Sokrates Grundtvig  learning partnership in the program of life long learning.

Partners from five countries are working together in this partnership:
